6–8% KavalactonesSKU: KAV-TRD-001 · Whole root powder
Whole-root noble kava powder for authentic traditional preparation. Fine particle size optimised for kneading and straining — the format kava bars and traditional beverage programmes are built around.
Traditional grind is whole noble kava root that’s been dried and ground to a fine particle size — the authentic format used for centuries in Pacific Island kava preparation. It’s prepared by kneading in water with a straining cloth, which releases the kavalactones into the liquid while the fibrous plant material is retained in the bag.
At Kavain, every batch of traditional grind starts with HPLC-verified noble cultivars grown on our own farm in Fiji and through our partner networks in Vanuatu. Dried roots are ground to a consistent particle size at our Fiji processing facility, packaged in food-grade moisture-barrier material, and shipped worldwide. Every batch is HPLC-profiled for kavalactone content and chemotype, and a full Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Kavalactone content is 6–8%by weight — typical for noble kava root in its natural, unprocessed form. For water-soluble quick-preparation formats, see our instant kava powder. For higher-potency concentrated extracts (70–80% kavalactones), see our kava oleoresin. For a detailed comparison of the formats, read our oleoresin vs powder guide.
Traditional grind is the least-processed format we supply. Dried noble kava roots are milled to a specified particle size and packaged — no extraction, no solubilisation, no additives. The value is in what isn’t changed: full-root character, natural kavalactone profile, traditional preparation compatibility.
HPLC verification happens at raw material intake. Every incoming lot is confirmed as noble (chemotypes beginning with 42 or 24) before it enters the mill. We never source or process tudei (non-noble) material.
Milling takes place under climate-controlled conditions at our Pacific Harbor, Fiji facility, managing temperature and humidity throughout to preserve kavalactone potency. Finished grind is HPLC-profiled for all six kavalactones, tested for heavy metals, and screened for microbial contamination and pesticide residues. A full Certificate of Analysis is available on request for any batch.
