We produce kava oleoresin exclusively from noble kava cultivars — varieties with centuries of safe traditional use and balanced kavalactone profiles. Every batch of dried root entering our extraction facility is HPLC-verified as noble (chemotypes beginning with 42 or 24). We never source or process tudei (non-noble) material.
Our roots come from two origins: our Kavain-owned farm and farming partnerships in Fiji, and our network of farming cooperatives across Tanna, Pentecost and Santo in Vanuatu. Both origins feed our Pacific Island processing network for cleaning, peeling, and drying before dried roots enter supercritical CO₂ extraction.
The extraction itself uses supercritical CO₂. Under high pressure and temperature, CO₂ behaves as a solvent that selectively isolates kavalactones while leaving behind unwanted plant matter. It's the same extraction principle used for premium botanical, coffee and hop extracts. Because CO₂ reverts to gas at ambient pressure, the finished oleoresin contains no residual solvent — a differentiator from older ethanol or acetone-based kava extraction methods that contributed to the European kava issues of the early 2000s.
